ALBA Berlin and I LOCK IT are jointly setting an example for the urban mobility transition in the capital. As part of its sustainability program STEP, the Berlin basketball premier league team is equipping its staff behind the professionals – coaches, educators, and social workers – with a modern fleet.

With twelve powerful Yoonit and Isicargo e-cargo bikes and two Carla Cargo cargo trailers, employees will now daily bring sports activities directly to Berlin's neighborhoods.

An efficient mobility concept, which, thanks to I LOCK IT's keyless frame lock, offers maximum flexibility for the entire "team roster."

The Challenge: Complex Fleet Management in a Sports Metropolis

Every day, ALBA Berlin employees commute between various schools and sports fields across the city. Managing such a large fleet of e-cargo bikes and trailers previously presented organizational hurdles:

Physical key management for 12 cargo bikes and additional trailer locks would be extremely time-consuming.

2. Time Pressure in Berlin

Every minute counts before appointments or training sessions – lengthy searches for the right key slow the team down.

3. Risk of Loss in the Neighborhood

In a big city like Berlin, there's a high risk of conventional keys being lost in the hectic daily routine.


A solution for bike security was sought that functions as intuitively as a smartphone and automates theft protection for the valuable e-cargo bikes.

The Solution: Keyless Bike Sharing for Electric Cargo Bikes

With the smart frame lock, the smartphone becomes the digital master key for every Cargo E-Bike in the ALBA fleet. Employees benefit from a seamless process:

1. Digital Team Sharing

Access rights are flexibly assigned via the app, allowing every employee to immediately use any available cargo bike including the Carla Cargo trailer.

2. Automatic Securing

The lock automatically secures itself when parked – a huge advantage for short stops in front of Berlin schools or arenas.

3. Integrated Theft Protection

Should an electric cargo bike be moved without authorization, the 110 dB loud alarm immediately deters potential thieves in public spaces.

Thanks to I LOCK IT's sharing technology, the Handball Heroes' e-cargo bike fleet is always ready for use, without the need for a physical key handover.
